“Interior at bottom” is the manufacturer’s qualification. It does not describe every cross-section, the lid opening or a guaranteed rectangular cavity.
A USEFUL ORDER OF DECISIONS
The 2260 is 6 inches high; the 1761 is 7 inches. Check the lowest rail or bracket all the way in, including uneven flooring. Leave the allowance you choose for movement. Equal published height and opening height leave no spare clearance.
The 1761 also needs a longer, wider footprint. A larger nominal capacity cannot compensate for an opening it cannot pass through.
The 1761 adds wheels. Consider where you will stand and how far the box must come out before its lid can open. Wheels do not establish that a loaded box will cross your carpet, clear a bed leg or be comfortable to move.
The 2260 has no wheels listed. Plan a reachable grip and an unobstructed retrieval route; neither model has been evaluated here for pulling effort.
The 2260 uses a snap-on lid; the 1761 uses latches. Think through lifting the lid and reaching its closure after pulling the box out. A latch fastens a lid, but does not by itself establish a gasket or moisture seal.
Neither cited record lists a gasket. We make no waterproof, airtight or dust-protection rating for either box.
Measure your largest rigid item, or a representative folded bundle, and compare it with the bottom-interior figures above. Check the lid opening and shape too. The 41 qt and 60 qt labels do not tell you whether a particular shoe box, game or bedding bundle will fit.
Do not multiply the exterior dimensions to claim usable capacity. Walls, corners and the shape of the cavity need their own allowance.
